Mandarin: Learning Colors

This week’s Mandarin session focused on colours, and the young learners had an amazing experience! Using vibrant flashcards, engaging songs, and plenty of laughter, they discovered how to say colours in Mandarin. As they practised words like “hóng” (red), “lán” (blue), and “huáng” (yellow), they eagerly pointed to various objects in the room, naturally forming real-world connections. It was delightful to witness their curiosity flourish as they delved into a new language!

Singing the National Anthem

This week's circle time was particularly meaningful as we introduced the children to the UK national anthem, God Save the King. The teacher conveyed its importance in straightforward language, and the children listened attentively before trying it themselves. This engaging activity not only enriched their vocabulary and enhanced memory skills but also familiarized them with a significant tradition—all while enjoying the joy of music!

STEAM for toddlers: Colorful Chemistry

This week, science was truly enchanting! The children eagerly engaged in a hands-on experiment with paint powder, bicarbonate of soda, and vinegar. As they added the vinegar, their eyes sparkled with excitement as they watched the colours fizz and dance like a vibrant rainbow. This interactive activity was not only enjoyable but also encouraged them to explore their senses, enhance their fine motor skills, and experience a touch of scientific wonder!

This Week's Preschool Adventure in Learning

Exploring London's Iconic Landmarks

This week, our preschoolers embarked on a thrilling journey to uncover London's most renowned landmarks. From the majestic Big Ben to the splendid Buckingham Palace, the contemporary Gherkin to the iconic London Eye, and not to forget, the historic London Bridge, the children thoroughly enjoyed exploring each site. With interactive displays set up around the room, they enthusiastically identified various landmarks, confidently stating their names and sharing interesting facts they had learned. Their enthusiasm was infectious as they started to recognize these celebrated sights!

Discovering London's Museums

To further explore the marvels of London, the children revisited cherished memories by viewing photos from previous excursions. This ignited delightful discussions as they reminisced about their adventures at these remarkable landmarks. We also transformed our classroom into a miniature Natural History Museum, where the children delved into the fascinating world of dinosaurs—discovering their skeletal structures, diets, and habitats. But the excitement didn't stop there! We crafted a small underwater realm with a Sea Life exhibit, allowing the children to investigate various marine creatures and unleash their creativity by designing their aquariums using art supplies. It was a week brimming with exploration and imagination!

The children engaged in a hands-on learning experience by constructing their version of Big Ben using crispbread and cacao yoghurt. They enjoyed spreading the yoghurt with a butter knife and meticulously piecing together their edible masterpieces. This enjoyable activity sparked an animated discussion about the concept of time, the mechanics of clocks, and the various sounds they produce. As they examined images of Big Ben, they were intrigued by the Roman numerals on the clock face, which led to an engaging conversation about their meanings and applications.
