This week’s amazing excursion was a big hit!
Children went on an exciting adventure across the river Thames, on a boat! Our preschoolers visited Canary Wharf, which we can see from the south side of the river.
They rode the ferry from a nearby hotel to see the tall and majestic glass and concrete buildings from much closer.
The journey itself was fascinating as children used the boat, experienced low tide, waves, and the pier was floating, making it an exciting bumpy ride.
In Canary Wharf, we visited the London Museum of Docklands. During this enriching experience, our preschoolers had the opportunity to explore the history of London’s trade, shipping, and transportation.
Through interactive displays, children discovered how goods like tea, sugar, and spices were imported and even used their senses to experience the variety of smells the spices offer.
Children learned about the history of the Docklands area and how the river Thames has changed over the years.
Discovering South America’s landmarksAs we are learning about South America, children had the opportunity to discover its most iconic landmarks and learn about the rich cultures that make this continent so unique.
We visited these five prominent landmarks through stories, pictures, and activities:
This week, our little adventurers took us on an exciting journey through one country in South America—Peru.
A country full of fascinating history, vibrant traditions, and breathtaking scenery. Our extra focus on Peru introduced the children to its culture and landmarks.
Children particularly loved to learn about vibrant Peruvian Textiles. The children explored the art of creating their own colourful design, using bright colours to create their own unique patterns.
We talked about how Peruvian clothes and rugs are bright and full of colourful patterns.
Hatchlings and Baby Dragons have been very busy diving into the exploration of the Brazilian culture this week.
Children had the opportunity to spark their inner designers during our craft session. Using bright colours, glitters, and other creative resources, they designed their own Brazilian face mask.
As we have been exploring South American countries, we also had a closer look at Colombia.
Our baby room children had a sense of pride and achievement in creating a Colombian flag, they were able to count the number of colours on the flag as well as identify and name the colours on the flag.
They stuck the straws to their flags and used tape to hold it together. They waved the flag all about and showed extreme pride in their creation.
The sentence “I did it! ” was used a lot as a show of pride in their good work.
Hatchlings and baby dragons took an amazing trip to our local library to follow on with their engagement in exploring early words and developing their language.
Our local library provides a nurturing environment for early learning and is invaluable for fostering a love of reading and discovery from the very start.
Even for our babies, it is important we introduce Early Literacy Skills: Babies learn to handle books, recognize shapes and patterns in pictures, and associate images with meanings.
Baby dragons loved visiting the stimulating environment of our local library!
They enjoyed their independence and their sense of making choices as they chose their own books and independently sat with their peers to engage together in a story.
This sparked their own imagination when listing through books full of colourful pictures.
The baby dragons pointed at familiar books and images and shared their excitement with their peers, which enriched their language building, turn-taking, and social interaction.
As every Wednesday, even this week our favourite mindfulness yoga teacher Miss Molly came, children had lots of fun engaging in 3D sensory play; they explored variety of animals like snails and whales.
The baby room had particular fun with bubbles!
Thursdays are very sporty days; with Sporty Minis coming, coach Danny got children to move all around and work on their balance and throwing skills.
Preschoolers and babies had an absolute blast playing the traffic lights game.
Running and stopping or regulating the speed and change of direction was a very fun way our children practiced their gross motor skills and agility.
On Friday, children indulged themselves in a magical, dramatic music session with Lucy Sparkles! Children enjoyed singing and listening to piano songs with a little touch of magic—and a sparkle!
