South American Adventure

This week, our classroom was buzzing with excitement as the children dove into a brand-new geographical theme—South America!

Through a range of interactive activities, children explored the diverse landscapes, cultures, and wonders of this fascinating continent.

As we are just diving into the learning about South America, children started with mapping the layers of the rainforest.

The children were introduced to the four layers of the rainforest and the different levels of the habits of the rainforest animals.

We spoke about the different kinds of animals that live at the bottom of the forest floor.

The children used paints and pipettes to create dots to design a South American hat called a sombrero.

This helped with their hand and eye coordination, as well as helping them explore with different colours.

Our partnership with Little Village

As an early years education and childcare institution, we put great value on helping children in need.

This is why we partnered with Little Village, an organization that helps babies and young children living in poverty all across London.

Exotic Rainforest Investigation

Preschool have been investigating the layers of the rainforest which led us to explore the exotic colours of the plants, trees and animals.

We used the food colouring to recreate the vibrant and layered look of the rainforest. We sprayed a layer of shaving foam on a tray we then used a range of colours .

We spoke about the different rainforest layers as we swirl using sticks.

Canada Water Canal

The children visited Canada Water Canal.

This is where they saw and learned about the many species of birds living there.

A bonfire activity

In the baby room, we held a bonfire-inspired activity: In this bonfire-themed activity, young children are engaging in a sensory and creative art project.

They are using brightly colored tissue paper (in colors like red, orange, purple, blue, and green) to represent the vibrant flames, sparks, and embers of a bonfire.

The black paper serves as a night backdrop, while white glue and chalk markings add texture and simulate the fire’s motion.

This activity encourages fine motor skills, creativity, and exploration of color and texture, allowing the children to connect with the idea of a bonfire in a hands-on, imaginative way.
