This week, we embarked on a fascinating journey to learn about Mexico as we continue to discover North America.

Both preschool and baby room went on exciting excursions: our preschoolers visited the iconic Tower Bridge and Shad Thames, where the children marvelled at its wonderful engineering.

They also learned about the shipping history of London before a fun journey back to the nursery on a double decker bus.

Our babies took a peaceful stroll through our local nature reserve, enjoying the wildlife and Autumn nature.

Amazing excursions - Tower Bridge!

As part of our reflections on transportation, our preschoolers had an exciting outing to the historic Tower Bridge.

We started our adventure by walking through Shad Thames, the children were curious about the history of former shipping warehouses and the iconic ‘bridges‘ in between the building above their heads.

We walked through a narrow passageway to get to the bank of the river to enjoy the view of majestic Tower Bridge!

The children were in awe of its amazing architecture, with comments about Tower Bridge resembling a castle!

Our Tower Bridge adventure included lots of learning about the history of London.

In particular, the Port of London was one of the busiest ports in the world in the past, importing goods from all around the world.

We even saw Cinnamon House and Clove House!

Of course, we wouldn't want you to miss out on our next amazing excursions - so, increase your hours now!

Russia Dock Nature Reserve

Our babies spent the afternoon in the local nature reserve, built on old docks used for wood import children had a brilliant time enjoying the natural world now full of Autumn colours.

The Russia Dock Nature reserve is full of original restores dock features, which is a great opportunity for teachers to engage children in our local history.

Children pointed out the ships sculptures including the beautiful blacksmiths’ work over the bridges.

Exploring Wonders of Mexican Landscapes

This week our children took a virtual trip to Mexico!

We learned all about Mexico’s diverse landscapes and habitats, as part of our October learning theme - North America, children reviewed countries such as Greenland, Canada, The United States and now they had opportunity to explore Mexico!

Our preschoolers focused on its unique habitat and they were introduced to the concept of deserts, where they discovered the fascinating plants and animals that thrive in such unique conditions.

Through stories, pictures and hands-on craft activities, the children learned about desert plants like cactuses, and animals like snakes and desert foxes.

We even created mini desert habitats using textured paint and assembled our own uniquely-shaped cactus.

As we were focusing on this one of the most iconic plants of Mexican desert through these engaging activities children let their curiosity grow and asked questions about how the Cactus survive in the hot, dry desert.

Our young explorers even had a chance to model their own cactus out of salt-dough onto desert landscapes which sparked their creativity and curiosity.

Our partnership with Little Village

As an early years education and childcare institution, we put great value on helping children in need.

This is why we partnered with Little Village, an organization that helps babies and young children living in poverty all across London.
