City of London School Highlights - November 9, 2024
This week has been packed with excitement as we kick off our month-long exploration of South America!
From colorful art projects to sensory play and fascinating animal stories, our young dragons have been fully immersed in the vibrant cultures, landscapes, and wildlife of this incredible continent.
A walk at the Barbican Highwalk Garden
This week, the children enjoyed a delightful outing to the Barbican Highwalk Garden!
Here, they explored the lush greenery, observed blooming flowers, and soaked in the peaceful atmosphere.
It gave our children some time to breathe and feel the sun outside of the four corners of our classroom.
Fun with playdough
This week at nursery, our Hatchlings dove into a sensory South American playdough activity!
They explored vibrant colors, earthy textures, and gentle scents, which not only sparked their creativity but also helped develop their fine motor skills and sensory awareness.
These are just some of the many benefits playdough offers for babies.
A session with Miss Mindful Molly
They also enjoyed a soothing "Molly Mindfulness" session!
Here, they practiced calming breathing and relaxation, rounding out a week of joyful, hands-on learning.
Our partnership with Little Village
As an early years education and childcare institution, we put great value on helping children in need.
This is why we partnered with Little Village, an organization that helps babies and young children living in poverty all across London.

Bonfire Festival
This month, our littlest blue dragons celebrated the annual Bonfire Festival with an art experience as magical as it was colorful!
Guided by our nurturing staff, the toddlers embarked on a colorful journey of creativity and exploration, creating their very own mini-sized bonfire celebration on canvas.
Their enthusiasm lit up the room as brightly as the real bonfires outside.
What made the experience even more magical was hearing the the children talk about the colors they created by mixing shades together.
The way the toddlers collaborate, share ideas, and celebrate each other’s colors was heartwarming and a true testament to the spirit of Bonfire Festival.
This creative activity allowed them not only to celebrate the season’s festivities but also to learn about colors, teamwork, and the joy of self-expression.
Sporty Minis
Our Blue dragons enjoyed The Sporty Minis programme this week!
We delivered it in a style that will engage all children and encourage curiosity in their own physical development.
We inspired children to work with others in a group and encourage the listening and following of instructions, all whilst covering the 21 fundamental movement skills.
Exploring South America
This month, our dragon flights embarked on a colorful journey to explore the wonders of South America!
With their imaginations fired up, our little dragons soared through vibrant art projects, cultural stories, and the fascinating wildlife that calls the continent’s islands home.
This themed exploration not only introduced them to a new part of the world but also opened their hearts and minds to the beauty of another culture’s art and nature.
But the fun didn’t stop with art.
Our curious dragons also learned about some of the incredible animals that roam South America’s rainforests, mountains, and islands.
Through stories, visuals, and imaginative play, our dragons gained an understanding of how each animal has a special place in its environment.
They were encouraged to compare and contrast the animals of South America with creatures from their own home islands, sparking conversations about habitats, adaptations, and the importance of protecting nature.
