Another Week of Exciting Activities 

What a fantastic week we've had at nursery! From exciting activities to heartwarming moments, this week has been filled with laughter, learning, and lots of fun. The children have explored new skills, made wonderful memories with their friends, and embraced creativity through play.

Hatchlings

Modern Languages

This week, the hatchlings had an exciting time exploring rainbow colors in Mandarin through engaging and interactive activities. They played a lively game of peek-a-boo with vibrant scarves, eagerly uncovering each color while enhancing their color recognition skills. They also embarked on a colorful treasure hunt, matching scarves to corresponding colored stars. Additionally, the hatchlings took part in a Mandarin spring-themed activity—an adventurous butterfly rescue mission! They worked hard to move vine leaves, navigate past various insects, and save as many butterflies as possible. Along the way, they also learned the Mandarin word for butterfly: Hú dié.

Regional Education

Their creative journey also took them through London’s most famous landmarks, where they painted vibrant red buses, charming red post boxes, and the towering London Eye. As they painted, we discussed these iconic sights, sparking curiosity and imagination. They explored textures, mixed media, materials and colours!

Amazing Excursion to Salter Garden

This week, our nursery babies at City of London nursery had an exciting outing to Salters Garden! They explored the beautiful surroundings and took in the sights of St. Alphage Church Chapel while enjoying a delightful stroll. They also ventured out to St. Paul’s, where they had a fantastic time playing jumbo Jenga and relaxing on oversized deck chairs. The warm sunshine and pleasant weather made the experience even more enjoyable!

Blue Dragons

Continuing our theme of the month—The UK and Northern Europe—the toddlers at our nursery Blue Dragons room learned all about the capital city they call home, London! They explored its famous landmarks, including Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and the London Eye. Inspired by these magnificent sights, they created their own collages, incorporating various images of each landmark to bring their artwork to life.

Festivals of the Week at City of London nursery!

This week, the Blue Dragons created special Mother’s Day cards at our amazing nursery. They made handprint designs as the centerpiece and painted small, colorful flowers around them. This creative activity was a fun way to express love while practicing fine motor skills. The children were excited to share their beautiful cards with their loved ones!

STEAM Activities for toddlers

This week, the Blue Dragons children of our city of london nursery had an exciting and educational adventure as they became paleontologists! Using blocks of chalk, they carefully scraped and dusted away to uncover hidden fossils, just like real fossil hunters. To enhance the experience, they even used special ring lights to see their discoveries more clearly. It was a fascinating and hands-on learning experience!

Specialist Teachers

The children had a fantastic time during our sports session for toddlers with Sporty Minis on Tuesday! They practiced their coordination skills using the ladder, carefully stepping through without touching the yellow sections. This activity encouraged them to stretch their legs, focus on their footing, and enhance their balance. It was a great way to develop their gross motor muscles while having fun!

This week, the preschoolers embarked on a magical journey through classic European fairy tales, exploring beloved stories like Snow White, Rapunzel, and Sleeping Beauty. They immersed themselves in these timeless tales through storytelling, discussions, and imaginative play. To bring the stories to life, the children dressed up in beautiful princess costumes, stepping into the roles of their favorite characters. As they twirled, acted out scenes, and reimagined the adventures, they developed creativity, confidence, and social skills. This enchanting role-play experience allowed them to connect with the stories in a fun and engaging way while fostering a love for storytelling and imaginative expression.

Amazing Excursions to Horizon 22

This week, the preschoolers had an amazing excursion to Horizon 22, a tall building in London that offers breathtaking views of the city’s famous landmarks. From the top, the preschoolers of our nursery were able to see iconic sights like The Shard, the River Thames, Tower Bridge, and many more. The experience was truly awe-inspiring as they gazed out over the sprawling city, sparking excitement and curiosity about the world around them. The visit was not only a chance to enjoy the stunning views but also an opportunity to learn about London’s history and geography in an engaging and memorable way.

STEAM activities for preschoolers

For this fun science activity, the preschoolers created spinning circles with ballpoint pens to explore motion and shapes. They attached the ballpoint pen to the center of a piece of paper and began spinning it, watching how the pen’s movement created different patterns and shapes as the paper spun underneath. By adjusting the speed and direction of the spin, the children could see how the shape of the lines changed, allowing them to explore concepts of centrifugal force, motion, and symmetry. This hands-on experiment helped develop their understanding of basic physics in a fun and interactive way!

The preschoolers had an exciting session with a sports coach from Sporty Minis, where they engaged in a range of fun and active activities designed to boost their physical development. The children practiced coordination, balance, and teamwork through a variety of games and exercises. With the guidance of the children's sports coach, they learned how to improve their gross motor skills, strengthen their muscles, and enhance their ability to follow instructions. The session was not only a great way to get the children moving, but it also encouraged teamwork and confidence as they enjoyed the fun and energetic activities together!

Happy Mothers Day!

For Mother's Day, the preschoolers had a creative time making special paper vase cards. They used cutting and pasting skills to carefully create the shape of a vase on the card. After that, they added vibrant colors to decorate the vase, using crayons and markers to bring it to life. The children then glued on flowers to make the design even more beautiful and personal. This hands-on activity allowed them to practice their fine motor skills while making a heartfelt, colorful card to celebrate their mothers.
