Please ensure that your child has a set of spare clothes and comfortable shoes at school. This helps us keep the little ones comfortable during activities and outdoor play. It’s especially important for those rainy or messy days when we’re having fun exploring through preschool sensory play!
This week, our babies have been having a blast with songs, stories, and giggles! We’ve been singing lots of nursery rhymes, including Open and Shut Them, which helped the babies explore opposites with fun hand movements. They also loved Finger Family, where they wiggled their fingers and pointed at different family members. During story time, we used puppets and funny voices to keep the babies engaged, with some even clapping and babbling along!
This week, our preschool sensory play sessions were a big hit! The babies had a great time exploring different textures, such as soft fabrics, crinkly paper, and bumpy sensory balls. They especially enjoyed a water play session, where they helped wash their baby dolls in warm, bubbly water. They loved splashing, rubbing the bubbles between their fingers, and gently washing the dolls with sponges. Some even giggled as they dipped their hands into the water!
We made the most of the sunny weather with trips to the park. The babies enjoyed feeling the grass beneath their feet, watching the leaves rustling in the wind, and pointing at birds flying by. On our nature walk, we collected leaves and flowers for the babies to explore. We also had a bubble play session, and the little ones couldn’t stop giggling as they reached out to pop the bubbles!
This week, the babies had fun exploring water and ice. Some were curious about the cold feeling of ice cubes, while others enjoyed watching them melt and seeing the colors mix. They also loved stacking and knocking down soft blocks, learning about shapes and balance during their play.
This week, the babies had a wonderful time moving their little bodies to the music! With Mindful Molly, they stretched, swayed, and gently moved to calming tunes. The babies loved the soothing rhythm, and it was so sweet to watch them relax and enjoy the experience, some even mimicking the gentle movements!
During Lucy Sparkles' session, the energy was filled with bouncing, clapping, and shaking maracas and tambourines. The babies really got into the fun, giggling and playing along. It was amazing to see some of them start moving to the beat, showing off their growing sense of rhythm and joy through their movements! It was such a fun time for the babies to express themselves through music and movement!

This week, the Blue Dragons learned how to describe opposites in both English and Mandarin. They explored words like high (高, gāo) and low (低, dī), light (轻, qīng) and heavy (重, zhòng), and fast (快, kuài) and slow (慢, màn). Through interactive games and activities—like our Mandarin music session during garden time—the children practiced these words and explored their meanings while singing Chinese rhythmic songs. It was a fun and engaging way to learn!
The Blue Dragons embarked on an exciting journey to learn about China, discovering its famous architecture, major cities, traditional foods, and unique animals. The highlight was a special Mandarin lesson with our Chinese teacher, where the children immersed themselves in the language and culture. It was a fantastic way to introduce them to a new part of the world!
We had an unforgettable trip to the Science Museum! The children had a blast exploring the Exploring Space gallery, where they saw real space rockets and learned about space exploration. They also visited the Modern World and Flight galleries, discovering iconic inventions like cars, trains, and airplanes. To finish off the visit, the children had a sensory activity for toddlers in the Pattern Pod, which was an amazing way to wrap up our adventure.
This week’s STEAM activity was all about creativity and engineering! The children used wooden sticks and paper to design and build their own colorful paper airplanes. After crafting, they launched their planes into the air, imagining them flying all over the world. It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience. We also had a Mandarin counting session with our Chinese teacher, where the Blue Dragons reviewed numbers 1-5 in Mandarin by singing counting songs and doing a threading activity. To make learning even more fun, we followed up with a hands-on pizza "cooking" activity, where the children counted the pizza ingredients they chose and stuck them on their pizzas!
This week, the children delved into the rich cultures of East Asia, with a special focus on the significance of blue and white porcelain (青花瓷) and the willow pattern (柳树纹). They had the opportunity to design their own pottery inspired by these traditional styles. The fascinating history behind 青花瓷 sparked lots of curiosity and creativity, with the children eager to learn more and come up with their own ideas.
We continued with Phase 1 phonics, practicing letter recognition and sounds. The children enjoyed a fun LEGO activity where they found blocks labeled with letters and worked together to form words. This hands-on approach was a great way to reinforce phonics skills while having fun!
In mathematics, we focused on reviewing numbers 1 through 10. The children participated in a counting activity called “How Far Can I Go?” where they practiced counting aloud. We also held a color-sorting competition, with the children racing in teams to sort toys by color and build towers based on numbered stations. This activity helped reinforce concepts like grouping, patterns, and counting, while also developing their fine and gross motor skills. We also continued exploring time, practicing reading clocks, and understanding the concept of time.
This week, the children were excited to take part in a science experiment involving soda and water. Using droppers (滴管), they added soda to water and watched as bubbles formed. They counted how many drops it took to fill a bubble on their sheets. This activity not only introduced basic scientific concepts but also helped develop their fine motor skills.
In Miss Molly’s session, the children learned to recognize and express different emotions. They discussed feelings like happiness, sadness, and anger, and explored these emotions through yoga poses. For example, during the warrior pose, the children shared stories about times when they felt scared, helping them understand and manage their emotions. This activity was a wonderful way to promote emotional intelligence through movement and interaction.
In Chinese Club, the children learned how to say different family members in Mandarin. Here are the words they learned, along with their pinyin and English meanings:
哥哥 (gē ge) – big brother
弟弟 (dì di) – younger brother
姐姐 (jiě jie) – older sister
妹妹 (mèi mei) – younger sister
爸爸 (bà ba) – dad
妈妈 (mā ma) – mum
The children also enjoyed the bilingual book The Perfect Bao, which introduced them to Chinese food culture, family relationships, and new vocabulary
