Babies at our Westminster Nursery
Modern Language and Communication for our Little Learners
At our nursery in Westminster, spring has brought a flurry of new words, sights, and sounds for our babies and toddlers. In our early years language development sessions, the children explored springtime creatures like bees, butterflies, and caterpillars through lively sound-play, movement, and storytelling.
As a trusted provider of childcare in Belgravia and Central London, we also introduced the Makaton sign for "bird", incorporating it into our daily songs and stories. The children eagerly practiced the sign while watching birds outside in our secure garden area—an example of how we blend sensory exploration with communication development.
Celebrating Spring and Creativity in Central London
In celebration of the new season, ourWestminster / Belgravia nursery babies made vibrant flower collages with soft, colourful paper. Before crafting, they explored the textures and scents of real flowers—an immersive activity supporting sensory development and early creative expression.
We also marked World Art Day by introducing the children to Claude Monet’s Water Lilies. Using paper plates, they painted with pastels and swirls, experimenting with colour mixing and brush strokes in a toddler-friendly interpretation of fine art—just one of the ways our nursery integrates art and culture into early years education.
Meanwhile, our Easter tuff tray offered sensory-rich learning filled with foamy clouds, pastel paints, and playful scenes of springtime bunnies and eggs. This immersive tray helped children explore colour, texture, and imagination through hands-on discovery.
A Springtime Excursion to Vauxhall City Farm
Children at our nursery near Westminster and Belgravia were thrilled to visit Vauxhall City Farm. They met real-life animals including sheep, goats, ponies, and chickens—engaging all their senses in a day full of laughter, learning, and curiosity.
These kinds of local excursions are a key part of our nursery's teaching and learning programmes, where we nurture a connection to the wider world and spark early scientific interest through experience-led learning whilst enjoying benefits of childcare approach in Central London.
Outdoor Play and Exploration in the Heart of London
Our little ones made the most of the Westminster spring sunshine in our safe outdoor garden. They sang along to springtime songs while spotting ladybirds and butterflies, supporting both language development and nature awareness.
We also visited the sand park, where digging, scooping, and castle-building turned into lessons in collaboration and creative play. These simple yet enriching experiences help children strengthen their gross motor skills and develop confidence through active exploration.

Building Confident Communicators in Westminster
At our Central London nursery, this week’s focus in the Blue Dragon Room was all about developing respectful communication skills. During circle time, our toddlers practiced polite greetings, taking turns, and using kind words like “please” and “thank you.”
Through interactive role-play and social games, children learned how to listen attentively, speak with kindness, and recognize important social cues like eye contact and tone of voice. These foundational communication skills support emotional development and early social confidence, aligning with our values at our nursery in Westminster.
Regional Education: Exploring Spain’s Vibrant Culture
As part of our regional education programme in our Westminster / Belgravia nursery, our toddlers explored the rich cultural traditions of Spain, focusing on traditional Spanish dress. Using textured paper, colourful fabrics, and creativity, the children designed their own versions of flamenco-inspired outfits.
Their enthusiasm for this cultural activity was inspiring, and each child proudly shared their creation. These engaging, hands-on projects reflect our commitment to early years cultural education in Central London.
Festival Focus: The Chinese Qingming Festival
At our Westminster preschool of toddlers group, we introduced the children to the Qingming Festival, a traditional Chinese spring celebration. The toddlers made their own green "Qingtuan" rice balls out of paper and placed them in handmade baskets—an activity that developed fine motor skills and sparked meaningful conversations about diverse cultures and traditions.
STEAM Learning: Spirals in Nature
In our STEAM learning session, the children explored maths through nature, focusing on spirals found in snails’ shells and blooming flowers. Using colourful pipe cleaners, they bent and twisted their own spirals, engaging their imaginations and early mathematical thinking.
Activities like this help develop problem-solving skills and pattern recognition—key elements of our early years curriculum in Westminster.
Mindful Easter Fun with Molly's Mindful Movement
As Easter approaches, Miss Molly from Molly's Mindful Movement brought joyful energy into the classroom with her Easter-themed mindfulness session. Toddlers moved, danced, and stretched like happy hens and hopping bunnies, building coordination and focus through movement.
Bubbles, music, and spring-themed props transformed the room into a celebration of joy and mindfulness, supporting the children’s physical and emotional wellbeing in a nurturing, playful setting—just one of the many enriching experiences we offer at our nursery in Central London.
Preschool class: Springtime Creativity, Culture & Exploration
Westminster | Belgravia | Central London Nursery
Creative Arts & Cultural Exploration – Inspired by Gaudí
At our nursery in Central London, the children in the Dragon Flights room explored the colourful and imaginative world of Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí. Known for his iconic mosaics and whimsical structures, Gaudí’s work inspired our preschoolers to design their own vibrant, mosaic-style artwork using paper tiles and textured materials.
This hands-on activity supported early childhood design skills, encouraged abstract thinking, and sparked meaningful conversations about how art and architecture connect—a perfect blend of creativity and culture at our Westminster nursery.
Springtime Nature Hunt in Westminster
The spring sunshine turned our nursery garden in Westminster into a haven of discovery during our spring flower hunt. Equipped with checklists and sketchbooks, children identified and observed flowers, using descriptive language to talk about petal colours, shapes, and sizes.
This sensory experience encouraged early scientific thinking, language development, and a growing respect for the natural world—key components of our outdoor learning philosophy here in our Central London nursery.
Language, Literacy & Mandarin Enrichment
In this week’s language and literacy sessions, our children learned the word “flower” in both English and Mandarin (花 – huā), connecting sensory play with language development. By tracing Mandarin characters in kinetic sand and practicing words like:
- 花园 (huā yuán) – garden
- 挖 (wā) – to dig
- 种子 (zhǒng zi) – seed
they enhanced both fine motor skills and multilingual vocabulary in a playful, engaging way.
This reflects our commitment to early language learning at our Westminster nursery, where communication is nurtured in multiple languages.
STEM Highlights: Maths, Nature & Discovery
Our early years STEM education in Westminster came alive this week with math-based games and outdoor science. The children practiced subtraction and grouping through active play, using movement and objects to explore number concepts.
In the garden, they measured flower height, counted petals, and discussed size and growth. These hands-on activities fostered critical thinking, problem-solving, and curiosity—laying the foundation for lifelong learning in maths and science.
Specialist Yoga for Balance & Focus with Molly's Mindful Movement
Our weekly yoga session brought calm and fun into the nursery, as children practiced balance, memory, and coordination with soft toys and music. Yoga is a key part of our child-centred curriculum in Central London, helping children develop spatial awareness, focus, and body confidence through movement and mindfulness.
Excursions & Outdoor Play in Westminster
Outdoor learning remains a highlight at our nursery in Westminster, where children enjoy team games like cycling, climbing, and ball toss. These activities develop gross motor skills while encouraging cooperation, turn-taking, and friendly competition.
Our ball toss challenge, enhanced with point systems, introduced early maths-in-motion, turning physical activity into a STEAM-based learning opportunity.
