This week has been filled with delightful autumn-themed activities and cultural exploration!
The babies enjoyed molding and pressing play dough onto leaf-shaped mats, using their little hands to build fine motor skills.
During circle time, their faces lit up as they played the baby piano, filling the room with joyful sounds.
We also introduced them to a sensory-rich book, "Feel and Touch: My First Middle East Adventure," which captivated their attention and introduced them to the beauty of Middle Eastern culture through textures and colorful images.
Mindful Molly hosted a calming session with yoga and sensory play, helping the babies to relax and explore new sensations.
The children were especially curious about the different textures and sounds inspired by Middle Eastern animals, adding an exciting cultural element to their sensory development.
This week, we are learning the Makaton sign for “love”—a wonderful way to support their language development while expressing positive emotions and building connections.
Next week, we will wrap up our month-long exploration of the Middle East and start our exciting journey into North American culture!
We will be learning about this region’s rich history, animals, and music. We’ll also focus on our value of the month—being good—and how to show kindness and helpfulness in daily interactions.
We’re proud to see our new babies settling in so well and becoming more comfortable each day. It’s been wonderful to watch them explore and engage with new activities!

This week, the Blue Dragons have been busy with a range of fun and educational activities!
The children explored a fun new way to recognise letters! We created colourful flashcards with the letters they’ve been practicing and sang along to the Jolly Phonics songs.
They were so excited to match the letters they heard to the ones on the carpet. Trying new activities makes learning even more enjoyable!
Shape time is always busy in the Blue Dragons Room!
After learning the names of different shapes, the children used glue sticks to attach the shapes onto large circular lids.
We also explored the concepts of “big” and “small” through comparisons. They’re becoming experts at recognising and categorising shapes!
Our weaving club is in full swing!
The children practiced threading string through bamboo tubes to create their own bracelets and necklaces.
They showed amazing concentration—what a fantastic way to boost their fine motor skills and patience!
With the autumn spirit in the air, we made autumn-themed cards while it rained outside.
The children collected fallen leaves, glued them onto colourful cards, and took home their beautiful creations as keepsakes. It was a wonderful way to embrace the season.
This week, the children explored messy play by counting leaves on boxes in Mandarin and painting them in various colours.
They loved the sensory experience and had so much fun experimenting with paints!
Next week, we’ll wrap up our September theme on the Middle East and start exploring the wonders of North America! We’ll learn about its landscapes, animals, and music while focusing on our value of the month—being good. The Blue Dragons will explore what it means to show kindness and make good choices.
We’ve had a fun and busy week here at preschool, filled with activities that kept the children engaged and learning in playful ways!
During circle time, the children eagerly shared their weekend experiences with their friends. We’ve also been exploring more fun facts about the Middle East!
They’ve learned about the region’s unique wildlife, such as hares, gazelles, Arabian oryx, and Arabian leopards, along with the beautiful architecture and natural landscapes.
These topics have sparked their curiosity and imagination!
This week, we’ve been focusing on the letter “r” for phonics. The children loved singing the Jolly Phonics song for “r” and practiced writing and tracing the letter.
We also reviewed numbers 1 to 10 through a variety of hands-on activities like counting beads and creating numbers with clay.
Later, they pretended coloured sticks were candles on a cake, counting them one by one—such a creative way to practice counting!
In our pottery session, the children shaped numbers from 1 to 5 out of clay, which helped them work on their fine motor skills while exploring the texture of the material.
For math, we focused on learning to tell time by recognizing the clock’s numbers from 1 o’clock to 5 o’clock. They also explored measurement and volume through some fun hands-on activities, building a solid foundation in early math concepts.
We had an exciting science experiment this week!
The children explored how to measure water using milliliters. They practiced using a dropper to add water one drop at a time, observing how the volume changed with each addition.
It was a fantastic way to introduce concepts of volume and precision, and the kids were thrilled to see how even the smallest drops could make a difference in the water level!
Physical activities have been full of energy and creativity this week!
The children played tennis in the garden and tried out Middle Eastern dance moves to the beat of an Arabian drum—what a fun way to stay active and learn about another culture!
They also had a yoga session with Miss Molly, where they discovered it’s now autumn. They learned about how leaves turn yellow and seeds grow and are harvested during this season.
The children even played autumn-themed games, jumping like squirrels to pass a ball into a basket!
We’ve been focusing on emotional awareness, too. We read What to Do When I’m Feeling Angry and practiced a calming technique where the children blow out an imaginary candle whenever they feel frustrated.
In Mandarin, we revisited strokes learned last week and moved on to writing the full character for "hand" (手). It’s wonderful to see their progress in understanding and writing Chinese characters!
